Sebastian Nalls is a 22 year Evanstonian residing in the 9th Ward. After graduating from Evanston Township High School in 2018, he concluded his education at Purdue University finishing with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Sociology.
He concluded his run for mayor of Evanston in February of 2021 and has since become a community activist working on many issues that impact our larger community such as public safety, transparency, equity, and more. Sebastian sits on the board of the Community Alliance for Better Government, McGaw YMCA, and the Democratic Party of Evanston. He has been a leading force on many issues facing 9th Ward residents: the district 65 education lawsuit, the Five Fifths TIF, Evanston's City Manager search, and an investigation into sexual abuse allegations at Evanston's lakefront.
Governor Pritzker's Office of Equity recruited Sebastian to join their newly found office in June of 2021. He has aided Illinois' Chief Equity Officer in facilitating the implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility plans for 38 state agencies, boards, and commissions. Those experiences have given Sebastian incredible DEIA knowledge while navigating the larger Illinois bureaucracy.
He currently lives with his mother Anna Nalls, owner of Anna Nalls CPA PC, and younger brother Yan Nalls, junior at Evanston Township High School. Additionally, Sebastian's father, step-mother, and younger brother (Christian, Diane, and Blaise Nalls), live in Evanston's 8th Ward.
